In three days I will finally be on my summer holidays. Yep, you read that right, I'm clinging to the fact that it's still (just) going to be September when I start, so it will be summer even if the calendar officially declared that autumn started a few days ago! I'll be going to the west coast of Ireland, so I'm not expecting a lot of sun with my sea and sand, but I have a range of both indoor and outdoor activities on my list of options, and it's not the day job, so it will be bliss :o) [ 139 more words ]

So the work craziness of the past month or so has finally calmed down, and after spending Saturday restocking the shop and adding a few new items (all new stock gets posted to my Facebook Page and Twitter when released, so follow to get alerts!), I got to do some sewing on Saturday night/Sunday. It was another round of cleaning up WIPs, it's really quite satisfying, and I have plans for more! [ 208 more words ]

This new foot can be used on any low shank straight stitch machine to sew both zippers and cording into place, allowing stitching to be done close to a raised edge due to its narrowness. It can be adjusted to either the left or right side of the needle, and the hinge allows the foot to feed over seams and heavy layers of fabric.

Want to show off your love for your little Featherweight? These cookie cutters would help you to make the perfect cookies for a retreat or sewing group. Each cookie cutter comes with 3 recipes, 1 for sugar cookies to make the base, then 1 each for buttercream and royal icing so that you can have fun decorating them too. One batch of the sugar cookie recipe makes around 18 cookies. The cookie cutter is plastic, measures 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" and is dishwasher safe on the top rack. Always wash first before using.

Free motion quilting and embroidery have become more and more popular in recent years, as has the resurgence of make do and mend and sustainable sewing, meaning that people are repairing their old clothes rather than replacing them. Unfortunately, feet to allow your Featherweight to do either have been scarce, especially since they did not come as standard with either the 221 or 222. [ 303 more words ]

The screw holding the spool pin cover plate in place is often one of the first to be sacrificed by new owners trying to maintain their Singer Featherweight machines, but the good news is that this replica screw can rescue you from a permanently chewed up version, just remember not to screw it in too tight! Suitable for both the 221 and 222 machines.

So I day jobbed for most of the weekend, but I did manage to get a couple of small projects done ready to take on holiday (still 17 days to go, but who's counting...) On Friday I went to Ikea to get a replacement light fitting for my living room (that turned out not to need to be replaced, but I digress) and a Raskog cart fell into my trolley (did you know they have some new colours and they've reduced the price?). Well you didn't think I went all that way and didn't buy anything, did you?! I went with a pretty short list and I only bought a couple of things on it, but then a bunch of other stuff fell in my shopping basket and I wasn't at all sorry. For the most part I was trying to pick up things I'd not seen before - I don't tend to follow all the new fabric releases the way I used to; I have so much already that I am long past the 'shop every sale' stage and far more into the 'deliberate buying' stage.
