Anatomy Of A Bear

Welcome to the Anatomy Of A Bear series that I ran for 9 weeks in 2012.  This is not a sew along, as I am not providing a pattern to use, however I will show you step by step how I go about making a traditional style mohair teddy bear from scratch.  The bear used in this series, code named TBB II, was a customer commission, so I’m afraid he isn’t be available for purchase.

Below is a list of the posts that appeared every Tuesday, starting 17/07/12:

Week 1 – Creating the pattern and transferring to the fabric

Week 2 – Using Fray Check, cutting out the pattern pieces and trimming the seam allowance

Week 3 – Examining the tools of the trade

Week 4 – Tacking, sewing on the machine and hand sewing

Week 5 – Clipping curves and basting the seam allowances

Week 6 – The head part 1 – stuffing and needle sculpting

Week 7 – The head part 2 – scissor sculpting, sewing the nose, applying shading, inserting the eyes and adding the ears

Week 8 – Limb stuffing and weighting and pulled toes

Week 9 – Jointing, growling and finishing
