It’s been a bit of a snotty week round here (apologies for the overshare), so I was not feeling entirely bright eyed and bushy tailed at the weekend. Instead of sewing I found myself making sushi and pesto (not together), thinking big deep pattern writing thoughts, writing notes for a few upcoming posts and getting up close and personal with Cranky. You may recall when I introduced my new white Featherweight a few weeks ago that I hadn’t come up with a name for him – with the other two the name had come during their initial servicing, and what do you know, it worked for the white one too! I had walked past him a few times giving him the side-eye, thinking I might get fell in there, and eventually I caved. I got the bobbin case off, fished a good 7″ of thread from behind it, changed the belt and now his needle won’t go up and down – the big wheel turns with the motor, but the needle only rises when I hand crank the centre wheel, hence he is now ‘Cranky’. I’m sure it’s an easy fix, but I’m waiting on some lighter fluid arriving so I can clean a bit of gunk from behind the bobbin case, then I’ll get all of him up and running if it kills me, or Stephanie, who volunteered to walk me through the fix. On Monday I finally sat down at the machine again, and created a couple more ‘bento starters’, and I might even do a few more tonight (hold onto your hats folks!)
Finishes This Week:
You’ve got to be joking!
In Progress This Week:
This doesn’t really look like much, but here’s some of my bento starters (I got another 4 done after I took the photo and have the rest of the 1st round cut):
This was the pile before I started my big, deep, pattern writing thoughts. I make notes on these, then pop them onto Trello for further work:
To Be Worked On This Week:
- Part 2 of my Poppies & Polka Dots tutorial
- A few more bento starters
- Whatever else floats my boat
Hope you all have a great week!
